Limelight loses patent suit and might have to go dark

Update: Adam Curry says Podshow does have a contingency plan and that Limelight doesn’t expect to go black anytime soon.
According to the AP, Akamai Technologies has won a a patent suit against Limelight Networks. Apparently Limelight’s content delivery system was infringing upon one of Akamai’s patents.
Judging from the early reports on Silicon Alley Insider, besides [...]

Podshow on Sirius No More

Looks like Podshow and Sirius have split.
I say: Big deal. Paul Colligan here has some interesting ideas, though I am not sure I fully agree:
We’ll never know the numbers but I’d bet good cash that Podshow on Sirius sold more satellite radios to Podcasters than Sirius knows. People always support what they help create and [...]

Is Podshow Growing or Dying?

I was just looking at the compete.com data for podshow.com, Adam Curry’s hyped audio and video podcasting network that hasn’t really achieved much attention lately (my guess, they will sell or close within the next year or so). The compete data seems to prove me wrong, but those numbers look awfully wrong to me. Look [...]

Podcasting to Generate $400 Million by 2011

Mike Shield cites some ‘analysts’ who assume podcasting could reach 400$ million in advertising revenue by 2011. This is based ont he assumption that Google is going to release a version of AdSense/AdWords for inclusion in podcasts.
Interesting idea, but if that happens (and I think it is a big if), will advertisers flock to marketing [...]

Is Podcasting on the Way Out?

John Gartner writes that podcasting’s 15 minutes of fame are almost over and he is taking a lot of flak for that in the comments of his blog. His evidence is the latest Pew Internet & American Life Project poll (you can read the report here in pdf format). Given that none of the commenters [...]

Podshow (un-)Launches Podshow UK

Podshow today announced the launch of a cooperation with Britsh Telecom: Podshow UK, or BTPodshow.
At least this time they did not unleash their assinine user interface on the users in a half-baked, less than semi-functional beta as they did with the release of Podshow US. Instead, the actualy site gives you pretty much no [...]

Some Thoughts About Podshow+

I have made no secret about my dislike for Podshow+. One of the reasons I dislike the product is because as of now, I do not see how this is going to lead regular (=not podcast listeners) users to podcasting. The moment I open the homepage, I see a blinking flash ad with music blaring [...]

Podshow Messes up Release of Podshow+

Many a podcaster had been waiting since Tuesday for the release of Podshow+. According to Adam Curry, it was supposed to be released on Tuesday morning or at least at some point during the day. It was not. Neither was it released on Wednesday.
Today, on Thursday, it finally was available for a while, but [...]

Low Podcast Adoption Rates are Real!

The podosphere today is bustling with opinions about Forrester Rsearch’s report on the low adoption ratings of podcasting. Here is Podtech’s opinion:
PodTech.net: Silicon Valley, Technology, & Media Podcast » Blog Archive » Forrester Report on Podcasting – Wrong Big Time
However if you look at iTunes and iPod marketshare alone – I estimate that around 15-20 [...]

Podshow Down

I just tried to check Yeastradio and the Geekbrief. They both time out. Pacific Coast Hellway and the DSC loads up just fine. Is it just me or are others experiencing the same? Podshow.com doesn’t work either.
