Opinionated Web 2.0 News and Commentary

image I’m noticing that a number of people are setting up rooms on FriendFeed for tomorrow’s WWDC keynote where, at 10amPST tomorrow, unless all predictions are wrong, we are going to see the announcement of a new iPhone with 3G support, GPS, video, and/or a smoothie maker, depending on who you ask.

VentureBeat – their people will be at the keynote and will be giving live updates – judging from the active discussion on there so far, this is going to be the room to watch:

The ‘Official’ WWDC room:

The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) room:

I’m thinking this event might be just what FriendFeed needs to catapult itself into a more mainstream position. Twitter is taking measures to stay up tomorrow, but if history is any guide here, Twitter will be down (especially if Scoble starts posting to it). With few exceptions, most blog doing live updates also barely make it through the morning (even big ones like Engadget). If FriendFeed can stay up and running (and I see no indication why not), then tomorrow might just become a big day for them.

Here are a couple of rooms to watch tommorrow (and here are a few more sites that will do live updates):
