Slow Day - Twitter color war as a sign of boredom

Posted by Frederic On March - 19 - 2008

I share Corvida’s feeling that today is a very slow day, at least for those of us who dabble in commentary blogging. Sure, I could write about Arrington trying to rally bloggers to challenge CNET (or at least that’s how is post is spun right now), but I don’t care for his recent personal anti-CNET sentiments. Facebook is adding more privacy options, which is great, but I never really use Facebook and don’t care much for it either.

But it’s a real sign of a slow day when you get something like the Twitter color battle going on today, where teams of the colors red, green, yellow, blue, orange, pinkgold, off-white, and plaid see how many followers they can get. I guess there is a no-team for the grumpy ones like me as well…

My thoughts on this?

It’s a sign of the twitter infatuation slowly coming to an end. It reminds me of the days where we got bored with our toys as kids and started smashing them into each other to see which one would survive the impact (ok - maybe we were twisted as kids).

I’m not saying its the end of Twitter, I’m just saying that I see this as the first phase of infatuated love coming to an end. That’s usually a good thing, or it reveals a lot of ugliness. But if you hadn’t figured it out yet, I hang out on Friendfeed most of the time now anyway and have been showing Twitter the cold shoulder lately.
