Monday Night Thoughts
March 4, 2008 |
Today was a pretty quiet day in the blogosphere. Maybe too many people are off enjoying themselves at SXSW and getting ready for Mix08.
Because of that, nothing really popped up on my radar that was really worth a lengthy blog post. As a substitute then, here are just a few thoughts for today:
- Netscape is officially discontinued. Good riddance. But I do know quite a few people who still use it and aren’t ashamed to admit it - even when I tell them that they should have switched away from it ten years ago…
- AOL is going to launch 12 new sites in the next 12 months. There better be a huge hit in that flock for AOL, because otherwise it will soon follow Netscape into the deathpool.
- I watched Scoble’s video on that telescope thingy Microsoft is going to release soon. I did not cry.
- TechCrunch says the “much hyped AllPeers” is now in the DeadPool. If I remember it right, it was TechCrunch that hyped AllPeers in the first place. Michael Arrington actually called it the Firefox killer app. And stupid me always thought that Firefox was a killer app all in and by itself…
- The Valleywag vs. TechCrunch story is getting silly and is, in turn making TechCrunch seem more and more like Valleywag.
- Steven Hodson says that I have dipped my toe into the dark side of crankiness. I’m not planning to out-crank Steven, but if something start getting on my nerves, I can crank out angry posts with the best of them
As a sidenote: posting will be rather light this week, as I will be heading down to sunny Florida starting with a long travel day on Wednesday. The regular program should resume on Monday.

Geezz… I don’t post for one day and you say it’s quiet. Sorry. I’ll try and do better in the future.
