Twitter: We Need to Talk
February 13, 2008 |
Twitter,
When I first met you, you asked me what I was doing - and I was immediately smitten. Ever since, we have had a stormy romance. I kept sipping on the sweet nectar of your updates. I made friends with your friends, I took you with me on road trips, we went to Europe together. Things went brilliantly well. Since then, we have called each other more than 500 times.
But something changed a few weeks ago. I told you what I was doing and you just didn’t seem to care. (I mean - it’s the only god-damn question you ever ask me, so at least you should care about my answer, right?). Then you said you couldn’t take my answer. It was too much for you.
Because I couldn’t handle it myself, I asked a friend to pass my messages on to you, but you wouldn’t listen to him either.
Then you moved. You didn’t tell me your were moving - I thought you liked your landlord - but I didn’t think too much about it. I had heard rumors that you even paid the rent for some other guy, but I didn’t think much of it back then.
But our relationship has changed.
Sometimes, you just don’t want to talk to me for hours. Sometimes, you talk to others, but not to me. When somebody asks you to tell me something, you just forget. It’s as if our relationship doesn’t matter to you anymore.
I know you are trying to quit smoking and it has been hard on you, but really - we got to talk. We had a good time together (especially when we brought in the toys), but now I feel the chemistry just isn’t there anymore. I want to make this work, but do you?
