Join the L33t Reddit
January 29, 2008 |
A few days ago, MG Siegler of ParisLemon asked me if I wanted to help post and moderate an “Elite Tech” reddit. This idea was first put forward by Dave Winer about a month or two ago. Being the glutton for punishment that I am, I immediately said yes. I am not sure how ‘l33t’ I am, but I’m always up for a challenge.
As of now, the site is slowly growing, with about 90 subscribers and we are seeing a few votes here and there as well. Comments are still slow, but I have a feeling that they might start picking up as more people join into the fun.
The idea is to post the most important tech news of the day. My own personal benchmark for posting is that the item has some relatively far reaching consequences and can’t be found on Valleywag. No worries - I won’t put that video of the Japanese man eating poisonous mushroom while wearing a horse mask on reddit anytime soon.
The l33t reddit is being moderated by MG Siegler of ParisLemon, Steven Hodson of WinExtra, Louis Gray of Louisgray.com (see his announcement of the site here), and myself.
Interested? Head over to reddit and join in the fun. If you use reddit regularly, subscribe to the ‘l33t’ reddit by clicking on ‘more’ under ‘other reddits’ on the right side of the screen and as of right now, you can find us on the top of the third page (it’s the only reddit right now that has the little lock icon next to it).
Also, if you want to submit stories to this, MG set the requirement as follows:
If anyone is interested in being a contributor, shoot me [MG Siegler] an email (find my address at the top of the site). I’ll set the requirement for entry (sorry if this sounds too elitist, but for such a thing to work there has to be some determining factor for entry - again, anyone will be able to see the submissions and vote on them) that you must have had an article on Techmeme at some point in the past year.
