Mimobot Holiday Contest on Twitter
December 24, 2007 |
I was about to write the following in my 2008 predictions:
We will see more companies find creative ways of using twitter for viral marketing.
However, I think I can cross that out, because today I found out that Mimobot, a company that makes and sells “art toy USB flash drives” is doing something very smart on Twitter. Not only are they sponsoring a trivia contest, they have tied the contest to their twitter followers. A new trivia question is asked for every twelve new followers. This, of course, gets old followers to ask other people to sign up (that’s how I heard about it).
This might be one of the smartest ways I have seen a company use Twitter so far.
From the rules:
Up to eleven subsequent trivia questions will be presented, one question for every 12 new mimobot “followers” added beyond mimobot’s baseline of 221 “followers” (i.e., when mimobot reaches 233, 245, 257, etc., “followers”).
