Digg Adds Election Coverage
November 20, 2007 |
Digg just added an Election Coverage section called Digg the Candidates.
Great idea and nice execution, just a shame that you can’t really digg the candidates but just befriend them.
I wonder how/if they got all the candidates (and/or their staffers) to sign up for this.
Also, as one might expect, the campaigns only digg their own stories or stories about them (and only the positive ones, of course) and never comment (they learned that from the White House already).

Update: Looks like MG Siegler noticed the same thing:
What I don’t like about this section though is the fact that these candidate profiles only have the “candidates” voting for positive stories about themselves. Much more interesting would be if negative stories were included as well - and even better (though a pipe dream) would be if it was actually the candidates themselves picking real stories (rather than just their own positive political stories) be it in tech or elsewhere that they found to be Digg-worthy.

Rudy Gulliani apparently hasn’t been turned off by all the 9/11 conspiracy stories on digg lately and has chosen a story on “Rudy on the Terrorists’ War on Us” as his favorite…
Update: Kristen Nicole over at Mashable compares “Digg the Candidates” to Yahoo’s election coverage.
