Burning Down Portland (kind of)
Ignite Portland last night was definitely bigger and better than anybody could have expected. Dawn Foster, Josh Bancroft, Raven Zachary , and Todd Kenefsky clearly put a lot of thought and effort into the organization and it showed.
Great venue, great food, and, most importantly, great presentations ranging from unicycling and keeping chickens to why facebook is really just training wheels for the Internet (I fully agree) and how to get romantic online (the last one was a clear crowd pleaser).
I had decided to do some volunteering, so I ended up in various roles from doorman to delivery boy, with the big advantage of getting first dips on the food and drink, which was a good thing because the place was packed to maximum capacity (or at least to the maximum the fire code would allow).
I also got a chance to chat with Marshall Kirkpatrick, Paul Biggs and Dave Coursen.
If you are not familiar with the idea of Ignite, check out the original announcement here for some more info.
