Google Video Units - A Stupid Idea
October 9, 2007 |
Google’s Video Units seem like an underwhelming idea at best and, in my opinion, a rather stupid idea.
Why would anybody care to watch a video that might (there is no guarantee!) be slightly related to the content? A text link doesn’t cost me any time to glance at, but watching a video is something few readers will want to commit to. Slap an ad on top of that and all you are doing is annoying your readers and taking up a lot of space.
For a good round-up of comments, see Mathew Ingram’s post here.
