Boing Boing TV Heading to Virgin America
October 5, 2007 |
According to Airline Biz, Boing Boing TV has partnered with Virgin America to provide:
“cheeky exploration of the world through Internet culture, DIY technology and geeky curiosities” through inflight daily video reports with the same irreverent and eclectic content that has struck a cord with pop culture junkies on BoingBoing.net.
Sounds like a good idea, given that Virgin is trying to establish itself as the only airline with a hub as SFO and that they have quite some street cred with the technology crowd.
From the press release:
Boing Boing’s co-editors and cyber-celebrities Xeni Jardin and Mark Frauenfelder will host the three-to-five minute video reports which will feature diverse and authentic stories that are a natural extension of the popular blog.
“Boing Boing is known for its cheeky exploration of the world through Internet culture, DIY technology and geeky curiosities. We are delighted to be working with Virgin America to introduce Boing Boing TV to its trend-setting air travelers,” said Xeni Jardin, co-founder of Boing Boing and co-host of Boing Boing TV. “Through Boing Boing TV, Boing Boing is bringing its own unique approach to entertainment, just as Virgin America is changing air travel in the U.S.”
Incidentally, Dave Winer, while he doesn’t like that the Virgin website doesn’t work with Firefox, is going to fly with them tomorrow.
