Howl Against Indecency
October 4, 2007 |
Only in America: A judge decides a poem is not indecent in 1978. In 2004, a boob shows up on American TV and ruins a generation. In 2007, you can’t read Allen Ginsberg’s Howl on the radio without running the risk of being bankrupted:
Fifty years later, with draconian FCC fines for language infractions, you still can’t hear HOWL on the radio. That’s something to howl about. This October 3, WBAI and Pacifica Radio Network invite you to join our commemoration of Judge Horn’s ruling on behalf of free speech, by listening to a recording of the poet Allen Ginsberg, himself, reading the unadulterated HOWL.
If “Howl” is indecent, what is Jerry Springer? Rush Limbaugh? The Iraq war? Bush? Cheney?

About HOWL and WBAI, WBAI is bankrupt. Dan Siegel of the Pacifica National Board is corrupt. He has been temporarily placed on the national board to sabatoge the Local Station Board elections and allow the wbai and Justice and Unity corruption to continue.
