Mediatemple Outages Continue
October 2, 2007 |
Those of us who are hosting on MediaTemple’s GridServer have been having hosting issues for the last two days now. Things looked good yesterday in the afternoon for an hour or two, but returned later in the day and still have not quite been fixed. Mediatemple says that they had an unexpected spike in new users… must have been a hell of a spike.
Server is very slow right now. They are throwing more hardware at the problem right now. Hope things will look up soon.
I switched away from 1&1 a month or two ago after they locked down my site and their call center people in India didn’t have the slightest clue about what I was talking about (one of my stories hit the digg frontpage…). However, 1&1 had a great uptime. MediaTemple has been up and down a few times since my switch…
Update: Looks like I am not the only one pondering a switch away from MediaTemple.

Hello Frederic.
Jason McVearry has already commented in the blog post you linked at the end of your post here. I’d just like to reiterate here as well that we apologize for the inconvenience this has caused anyone. Our System Status page is where to check for regular updates to the progress of this issue. Clearly the performance over the past few days for Cluster.2 users is unacceptable to us and we’re working to remedy that.
I assure you things will be back to normal soon. Thank you for voicing your concerns!
