Another article about blocking web ads on CNET today, and yet more advertising for Adblock Plus.
On a sidenote, I wonder what PC World would have to say about all that - looks like Adblock Plus was one of the 100 Best Products of 2007 (though it only ranked 95th).

Apple has outlined the system for getting back $100 of that iPhone you bought before the price drop.
Simply head to Apple’s website, enter your phone number and serial number - and in short time, an SMS will appear in your mailbox with a code for a $100 Apple Store credit.
Looks like there is no iTunes […]

I have seen a lot of negativity about the TechCrunch40 conference in the blogosphere - yet I think it should be a great event. Seems like a lot of the negativity is fueled by envy.
Congrats to Arrington and Calacanis for getting Google to present there! Should be interesting to see what they have cooking.

Here is a web service that freaks me out a lot more than most of the scat/bestiality videos I have seen in my lifetime: Marry Our Daughter…
(I know - it is a satire, but just the thought that this is actually reality for a lot of people…)
Bonus: these guys here are pretty funny, too

Louis Gray wrote a nice roundup of yesterday’s discussion about the practice of a number or large blogs to link internally instead of out.

Brands are Conversations? Really?
September 13, 2007 | 4 Comments
Good piece on the Federated Media Conversational Marketing Summit on CNET today. Nice to see that not everybody is buying this BS:
“Conversational Marketing is an exciting new practice that engages rather than dictates, invites rather than demands, and listens as much as talks,” the Federated Media Guide to the conference states. “Advertising is becoming a […]

Amazon, according to an article at Billboard, is about to launch its own music service, depending on Jeff Bezos greenlighting the launch this week:
The much-anticipated music service from Amazon could go live as early as Tuesday, Billboard.biz has learned. The company has been testing the service internally for the last several weeks, and is presenting […]

I was just thinking about how I hardly read TechCrunch anymore these days. Back in the day (that is, last year), Mike Arrington wrote interesting, somewhat in-depth, reviews of new and upcoming web-services.
Here is what the About page still says:
TechCrunch, founded on June 11, 2005, is a weblog dedicated to obsessively profiling and reviewing […]

Here is an excerpt from an article on Journalism.org about a report, released by the Project for Excellence in Journalism (PEJ):
In a week when the mainstream press was focused on Iraq and the debate over immigration, the three leading user-news sites—Reddit, Digg and Del.icio.us—were more focused on stories like the release of Apple’s new iphone […]

Internal/Double Linking is a Bad Practice
September 12, 2007 | 7 Comments
Update: see Nick’s comment below. It turns out, Gawker Media has made a change. Internal links are no longer underlined - you won’t notice it in your RSS reader, though.
Update 2: Ryan Block of Engadget also added some of his own thoughts.
(Via Scobelizer) Louis Gray today wrote about the annoying practice of big blogs to rather […]

We all knew it would just be a matter of time, but these guys from the iPhone Dev Team (they don’t want to be linked to, so this is a link to Engadget instead) have really outdone themselves by unlocking the iPhone in just 74 days.
Engadget is mirroring the app:
To pull this off you’ll need iUnlock […]

There might be hope for those of us who just don’t like using facebook. Google, it seems, might be looking into trying to tie together various applications into an RSS feed reminiscent of Facebook’s feed.
Google’s recent big social effort is called Mocha-Mocha (or Mocka-Mocka?), and will become the infrastructure for all social stuff across all […]

The AdBlock Plus extension has lately been getting a lot of (good/bad?) press because of this guy here, who really, really hates it. Today, Chris Soghoian at CNNET chimes in as well.
In the end, a few things are clear: Users of advertisement-skipping technology are essentially engaged in theft of resources. Web site owners have not, […]

Ah - the great journalism at CNET is at its best today. According to Stephen Shankland, Intel is set to ‘open’ it new 45nm fab in Chandler Arizona (named Fab 32) in 45 days.
The facility, called Fab 32, is a new one built in Chandler, Ariz., said spokesman Nick Knupffer, in an interview here at […]
