I just got an email after signing up for Wixi, which launched at TC40 today - looks like some guy called Arthur is not only my friend (no idea who this is and I never added anybody to my friends list on wixi), but would also like me to check out Rocky Balboa - not in […]

From BBSpot:
In response to customer demands Microsoft announced that instead of patching bugs and improving features of Windows Vista in the next service pack release, they would just install XP.

I know its all funny, but I have actually been using Vista on two PCs (one homebuild desktop, one laptop) and have absolutely no problems with […]

Xobni

September 18, 2007 |

Xobni looks pretty interesting.
When I installed Office 2007 I decided not to install Outlook. Looking at Xobni, I might have to reconsider this decision (or wait for a Thunderbird version).

I am giving Mint a try after hearing all the hype around it. However, getting past adding an account takes a while has so far proven impossible. I guess the system is just very slow right now, but once I get past signing up an account or two, I will have a review up.
As a sidenote: […]

Congrats Google Reader - you are now out of beta and a grown-up, unlike your older, yet less mature brother Google Mail.

Over on InsideGoogle, you can see a very ingenious way of embedding those new Google Presentations you made into a website or blog, by simply using wrapping the IRL into an IFRAME. Very simple, very effective.
I have a feeling that people might find interesting ways to use this for things like a simple chat […]

Update: Here is the announcement from the Google Docs group and from the Google Docs blog.
When you’re ready to share your presentation with your friends, customers, or even the world, it’s easy to do using the familiar Google Docs interface. You can even walk your audience through the slides online in real time. Participants simply click […]

TechCrunch40 a Letdown?

September 17, 2007 |

I had been thinking that at the end of today, we would all be talking about the great new products launched at the TechCrunch40 conference. I have been looking at the coverage during the day and didn’t really feel like trying any of the new tools announced today.
Instead, it seems Flock was the most […]

Tomorrow, the New York Times will stop charging for its Times Select service. It will also stop charging for access to its historical database. Good for their columnists who now don’t just labor in darkness anymore.
Of course, all of this is (almost) according to the evil masterplan the NYT had hatched out:
The newspaper said the […]

I have been tuning in and out of the TechCrunch2040 IRC back-channel and the discussion there is simply brutal.
This guy here is having a blast making fun of the conference as well.
Right now, they are taking apart MusicShake, as it actually only works with ActiveX on the Internet Explorer…

I would guess that the TechCrunch40 demo/conference thing going on right now is going to churn up a lot of mindshare in the next two days, especially given that TechCrunch writers are liveblogging the whole event.
However, could you guys stop linking every single f$&king link to your CrunchBase. I know you want to inflate your […]

In an interesting move, EMusic is going to start selling audiobooks tomorrow. Right now, audible.com is really the only player in this market (as it is the provider for audiobooks in iTunes), but its content is heavily DRMed. EMusic, on the other hand, is going to go the same route it did with music files […]

September 14, 2007 | 6 Comments

Rumor is that the iPod Classic is having some issues:

Inability to use EQ […]

Odeo Acquires Fireant

September 14, 2007 | 2 Comments

Odeo has acquired Fireant. Interesting move, as it will allow Odeo to feature video content. I still don’t know anybody who knows the site, but this might change, as they seem to have more upgrades planned. The site always looked better than Podshow anyway.
From the Odeo Blog:
New York, NY, September 14, 2007
Odeo (formerly SonicMountain), a […]
