TechCrunch Going Further Down the Hill
September 24, 2007 |
As if Valleywag wasn’t enough of a gossip rag already, today’s TechCrunch piece on Pownce vs Digg and yesterday’s piece on PayPerPost (a company I hate deeply!) is a good illustration why TechCrunch is bordering on becoming irrelevant unless it returns to its roots:
I’ve speculated previously on the growing conflict Kevin Rose has between his roles at Digg and Pownce, and now it would appear that we may finally be on the eve of Rose being forced to decide between the two.
I don’t give a cr*p about the internal issues digg or pownce might have. If I wanted to know that, I would look into my Valleywag feed. TechCrunch - get back to doing what you do (did?) best: review startups - and really review them - without investing in them at the same time and without just rehashing a press release (we already have the AP, UPI etc. for that).
Mike actually still does most of this, but the other editors seem to crank out a lot of filler material these days…
