One Millionth iPhone Sold
I am sure the recent price cut has helped Apple reach this milestone a day or two faster, but Apple has announced that it sold its one millionth iPhone in 74 days since its introduction on June 29th.
“One million iPhones in 74 days—it took almost two years to achieve this milestone with iPod,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “We can’t wait to get this revolutionary product into the hands of even more customers this holiday season.”
Its funny how Steve Jobs sticks to speaking points better than most Fox News ‘anchors.’ However, you have to give Apple some props for selling this many phones this quickly – especially given that they cost $599 for 69 of those 74 days. The news sure has helped Apple’s stock to regain some of its luster. It is up two and a quarter percent so far today.
I for one am thinking about biting into the sour apple and ordering an iPhone sometime this week. Apple has managed to make us see the new $399 price as a bargain. Most people would have never thought about buying a $399 phone until last Wednesday. But thanks to the irrationality of the human animal, $399 seems like quite a deal today, and who am I to ignore my duty as a consumer? And hey, my wife wants one, too.
