After a flurry of rumors about what company was going to get the exclusive iPhone deal for what part of Europe, O2 today denied having signed any papers yet. Only seems to be a question of time, though:

The portion of network revenues demanded by Apple is believed to have been behind Vodafone’s decision not to sign up as the exclusive partner for the iPhone in the UK. That contract is understood to have been won by O2 although the mobile phone operator stressed that no deal has yet been signed.

At least the European stock market thinks the iPhone is a big deal, as Vodafone, which didn’t get the contract, fell 2.4% after news about O2’s broke yesterday. The Guardian reports that Vodafone was put off by the big slice of revenue Apple demanded.
