iPhone Data Plans - Very Reasonable
June 26, 2007 |
Via Consumerist: Apple has revealed the rates for its iPhone and they strike me as very reasonable and the rest of the Blogosphere seems to agree.
If you already have an AT&T voice plan, you can tack on an unlimited data +200 SMS messages for $20.
The basic monthly price for a line with 200 SMS and 450 minutes is $59.99. Family plans start at $80 + 9$.99 for non-iPhone lines and $29.99 for an additional iPhone.
Basically, the iPhone plans are the standard AT&T rates plus the $20 for unlimited Email and Web.
It seems like a very good plan given that it is in line with other data plans, yet iPhone users will probably use the web a lot more than Blackberry users.
Bonus: Apple also posted a video onhow to activate and sync the iPhonee. Does that mean the phone will be sold in Apple stores but not activated?
According to the video, activation happens in iTunes by default. Upon first connection iTunes will walk you through the activation.
Syncing is no different from iPods, except for a new rider for address books, calendars and email. It doesn’t sync bookmarks from Firefox, just Internet Explorer and Safari.
