So reserachers are exploring the idea of scrapping the internet… Could the reporter for the AP have come up with a stupider title? How slow is the news cycle today? Isn’t there some talk show host saying something mildly racist somewhere? White girl missing on an island? D-list celebrity dying of prescription drug overdose with […]

Is Podshow Growing or Dying?
April 13, 2007 | 12 Comments
I was just looking at the compete.com data for podshow.com, Adam Curry’s hyped audio and video podcasting network that hasn’t really achieved much attention lately (my guess, they will sell or close within the next year or so). The compete data seems to prove me wrong, but those numbers look awfully wrong to me. Look […]

$3.1 Billion. From the New York Times:
Google reached an agreement today to acquire DoubleClick, the online advertising company, from two private equity firms for $3.1 billion, according to people with knowledge of the deal.
The sale gives Google access to DoubleClickâs advertisement software and, more importantly, its close relationships with Web publishers, advertisers and advertising […]

crappy things can happen to you. Like this threat of a lawsuit against Mike Arrington and TechCrunch, who apparently falsely reported that Shannon Terry was involved in securities fraud.
If the allegations in the letter from Terry’s lawyer is right, it might just take some credibility from Arrington. Within four paragraphs, the lawyers allege that there […]

Touchstone is now Particls
April 13, 2007 | 2 Comments
I have been using the Touchstone attention engine/RSS agregator for quite a while, and now it has been renamed into the stylishly named Particls (new website looks a lot better, too).
Given the total information overload I deal with daily, Touchstone/Particls is a lifesaver. It tracks my interests and (quite intelligently) interrupts me only if something […]

I just can’t get excited about social networks of any kind. Facebook, myspace and their clones just leave me cold. Now Rolling Stone is apparently getting into the game as well with its own social network (hat tip to GigaOm).
Om Malik and Andrea Feczko hit the nail right on the head. Social networks are popular […]

So Tim O’Reilly is asking for a blogger code of conduct and I am just not going to buy into it. Neither do Mike Arrington, Dave Winer of Jeff Jarvis, so I feel I am in good company here.
What makes the blogosphere so vibrant and fun is that we can have unfettered conversations. I don’t […]

I will be in the air all day today, so there will be no posts today, unless I find a way to bump some free wifi in the Minneapolis airport somewhere…

I nominate Daniel Cho’s “10 Things Your Blogger Won’t Tell You.” What a giant load of crap.
Did you know bloggers can give you a virus? And that nobody read blogs anyway? And that they take money from corporations to say nice things (and you guys though PayPerPost had no negative ramifications for the blogosphere at […]

The announcement of The Coop, a number of social feature to be built into the Firefox browser by the Mozilla Project itself, has lots of pundits considering the ramifications for the Flock browser, which has been trying to built something very similar for a long time now.
Flock was started with great hope, but even though […]

Windows Live Maps received a very nice update today. Maybe most importantly, the Virtual Earth 3D view now supports Firefox. There is also some RSS integration (GeoRSS) and a ratings system for local businesses.
Lots of other small updates as well, but check the announcement for those - I will write a more in-depth review tomorrow.
Technorati […]

SecondLife and Marketing
April 3, 2007 | 2 Comments
Eric Kintz lists 10 reasons why he isn’t convinced about marketing on Second Life. Kints lists 10 good points, but I think the problem with Second Life is actually far simpler.
I am quite convinced that marketing on Second Life is a BS idea. Second Life was a fad - it is already over. Go out […]
