Live Now Has A Better Product Search
April 25, 2007 |
… and nobody really cares or will ever notice. In fact, I still have to meet somebody who actually uses live.com at all, let alone a relatively obscure feature like product search. That’s a shame, because a lot of features on live.com are superior to Google’s (maps.live.com is basically a better Google Earth in your browser). Search is the big exception here, though, and without the core feature being superior, people aren’t going to spend their time on live.com.
Another take on the product search can be found on InsideMicrosoft on the Blog News Channel and there is also some more info available on the LiveSide blog.
Oh, and Microsoft - if I sign up for a live.com email address, can I get one that ends on @live.com, not a @hotmail.com — hotmail has about the same street-cred as an aol.com address? Talk about confused branding: the msn Hotmail logo and the Windows Live Hotmail logo live happily together on live.com… and then when you want to sign up, they take you from live.com to msn.com… just to confuse you a bit more…
