Blogger Gets Death Threats

Kathy Sierra has received death threats on her blog and canceled a presentation because of it. Lots and lots of discussion about it.

I am always saddened by the state of humanity when people are given total anonymity (or think they have total anonymity). My first guess would be that these threats are not meant to be acted out. I think it is just another example of somebody going overboard and taking things a bit too far – but those decisions should always be up to the person who was being threatened in the end. I hope the police find the guy/gal that said these things.

Maybe this will come as a reminder to people that posting your phone number, address and the details about your kids isn’t such a great idea after all…

Update: Maybe I am an emotionless asshole, but I don’t think the hysteria in the blogosphere about this is warranted
