WOMMA Slams PayPerPost

March 20, 2007 |

(Found via Jason Calacanis) Nice to see the Word of Mouth Marketing Organization is slamming PayPerPost. I admit that I take some pleasure in the fact that they specifically talk about PPP’s unofficial spokeswoman, Colleen Caldwell, who still pretends that PayPerPost is just an easy way to make a buck (I wrote about her quite a while back).

Oh well, we are not going to help her anymore, but here is a snippet from the WOMMA article:

Although PayPerPost claims to have just 15,500 compensated bloggers (”posties”) out of more than 60 million blogs in existence, WOMMA remains enormously concerned at the corrosive impact of these practices on consumer trust of consumer-generated media in general, and the blogosphere in particular.

Right on! (though the 60 million blogs in existence is a bit of an overblown number…)

I think it is important for you to have your facts straight regarding PPP and WOMMA.

Ted - feel free to point out where the post on the WOMMA blog is wrong.

As for you conversation with WOMMA, I can’t blame them, or any other organization for not wanting to work with you.

The business you are in is simply seedy and, in the long-run, self-defeating as you create an atmosphere where nobody is going to trust any blog anymore.

In you post, you say: Wouldn’t you think that WOMMA would want to work with the people revolutionizing the industry and evolve with the changing landscape?

Do you really think you are revolutionzing the industry? If you really believe that, nobody can help you…
