Press Release via jkOnThe Run:

PITTSBURGH - March 1, 2007 - Wizzard Software (OTCBB: WIZD) today announced that it has signed the final merger agreement for the acquisition of podcasting company Webmayhem, Inc., dba Liberated Syndication, which will create the largest podcasting distribution network in the world. Liberated Syndication (Libsyn), founded in 2004 by four entrepreneurs who posses a unique blend of technical acumen and experience in independent media, currently delivers almost two million
audio and video shows per day to millions of consumers around the world.

Interesting development that will have podcasters talking for a while. Libsyn not only provides a solid service, it also does so for very reasonable prices. Best of all, it takes the worries of bandwith limits away and instead works with weeky storage limits instead. While I personally have never used them, podcasters I talk to praise their service highly.

It seems Wizzard Software is now well positioned in the podcasting space. Hopefully, they just improve on the libsyn service as libsyn has done a lot to make podcasting accessible to everybody who wants to just dip his toes into it without much effort. But then of course, there is always the question of when podcasting is finally going to go really mainstream (or not)…

It is interesting, by the way, that Wizzard Software (notice the old fashioned ’software’ in the title) is also specialized in text-to-speech software, including MedivoxRX, the Talking Prescription Bottle…
