Scrapblog Review

March 29, 2007 | 2 Comments

While webapps have obviously been on the forefront of interesting developments over the last couple of months, it has been a while since I came across a product that I though was more than just evolutionary. Scrapblog is different, though I am sure I (30 year old male) am not the target audience for this […]

NetBrowser Pro markets itself as a browser for porn: “NetBrowserPro is the internet browser which aimed to the one thing–help you to watch porn. Secure, confidential, quick and free.” Sounds like the perfect browser, until Chris Boyd comes along to ruin the fun because he discovers that it comes with its own rootkit.

BegForPost - enough said.

Wow - I guess the days of webmail services differentiating themselves by the maximum size of their inboxes is over. Yahoo has announced that its mailboxes will become - well - infinite. According to Mike Arrington, Yahoo will pay a refund to those who paid $20 for premium accounts with what now seems like a […]

Gmail Down

March 27, 2007 | 7 Comments

Last update: And it is up again!
Gmail has been down for almost an hour now. I keep getting a server error.
Isn’t it amazing how we come to depend on these things to work 24/7.
Looks like I am not the only one who noticed.
1st Update: GMail for Domains is working just fine, by the way.
2nd […]

I agree with Dave Winer about the danger of a large mob. I think that’s what we are seeing with the Kathy Sierra thing right now. I am sure he is going to get some grieve for this, but at the end of the day, is is probably right. Large mobs frighten me - no […]

Kathy Sierra has received death threats on her blog and canceled a presentation because of it. Lots and lots of discussion about it.
I am always saddened by the state of humanity when people are given total anonymity (or think they have total anonymity). My first guess would be that these threats are not meant to […]

Powerpoint paralysis.
Have a look at the slides that ValleyWag put up today. Look at what is on the slides and then tell me that these people are not completely insane.

Twit Out

March 26, 2007 |

While everybody is abuzz over Twitter these days, I came, saw, and never returned.
I guess I am becoming an old fart, but I really don’t see the point. I want to see the point. I want it to be useful to me, but I just can’t find any reason to use it.
So now I can […]

One word: deception. PayPerPost couldn’t work if it wasn’t for its users deceiving their audiences. If we suspend our disbelieve for a bit, maybe there is a parallel universe where readers don’t care if posts about labia reduction surgery, AutoCity101, Idaho real estate, Pay Day loans and work from home schemes are paid for.
PPP users […]

A Week of Content

March 23, 2007 |

I have gotten so sick and tired of people complaining that bloggers don’t produce much of value, that I have decided that for one week now, I will post at least one piece of real, meaty content per day, starting tomorrow. I will do reviews, tutorials, maybe a podcast or two, short tips and trick, an interview, etc. […]

There is a good discussion about the use of Google Books in academia going on in the blogosphere today.
Tim O’Reilly is referencing a Berkeley grad student who is doing researching on what I assume to be the cultural history of roads. While he has to fight his quaint little specialized library and the librarian […]

This is a bit of a silly post, but I just noticed I got a referral to lastpodcast.net from icq.com. Now I don’t know about you, but ICQ to me is one of the dinosaurs of the net. So as my interest is peaked, I check out the stats on Alexa and Compete and ICQ.com […]

Jason says this is the final Word on the “A-List”:
Notice the problem with the logic behind this: a) There is no A-list - it’s a myth b) the people in the A-list work harder than you. Am I the only one who thinks that this logic doesn’t quite work?
By the way, wasn’t the whole discussion […]
