Digg - Yahoo - Delicious - Copy?
February 15, 2007 |
I think Jason Calacanis has a good point: Digg didn’t invent digging.
I am not sure he is right in calling all diggers a “bunch of 12-year-old kids” so that it is best to ignore them (isn’t Jason trying to get enough money to send just those 12-year-old kids to private school?). The discussions on digg are clearly not the greatest (and often at the level best described as “infantile”), but the stuff that often bubbles to the top on digg is entertaining and as a 30-year-old geek, I am not afraid to admit that.
Overall, though, he is right about the following:
THIS IS THE VIRTUOUS CYCLE OF TECHNOLOGY–NOT STEALING!!!!!
THIS IS WHAT MAKES OUR INDUSTRY GREAT… WE ALL BUILD OFF EACH OTHER’S IDEAS.
