Paul Boutin at Valleywag says Scoble taught us all a few lessons about video and blogging this weekend.

Here is my take on his arguments:
1. Video is overrated. I agree - to the degree that long videos are overrated. But its a two-edged sword. When Scoble posted the shorter, more produced video last night, the comments were full of complaints because it was “too produced.” Here is the video - judge for yourself. I myself prefer the shorter, more to-the-point style of this one, though I could do without the suspense.

2. Writers aren’t TV stars. True not much to argue with this. Doing video is different from writing, very different. There is a better chance for a good writer to be a good podcaster than to be a video personality.

3. Bloggers are full of baloney. But that’s why why love them!

4. Mainstream success is hard work. Very true as well, but this doesn’t have much to do with Scoble’s videos. He wasn’t looking to be mainstream - he was looking for recognition from the mainstream.

5. Reporting kills most stories. Also true, but in the context of the Intel video, it was more the fact that it was a lengthy, somewhat boring video that killed the buzz. But, and this is a big but, I often prefer raw, unedited information over the gloss of a highly produced video. Yet, at the end of the day, having options is a good thing.
