Performancing Closes Ad Network
January 23, 2007 |
Maybe this is what happens when you attempt to do business with the devil (PayPerPost), but Performancing is closing it Performancing Partners ad network:
I’m sad to tell you that Partners has to close. While I have every faith it could have worked, it wasn’t going to happen fast enough. Without more money invested it wasn’t going to happen at all.
I guess I am a bit surprised. I thought they had an interesting system going, but I guess it never got traction. I know when I signed up, it didn’t seem as if there were any advertisers on the network (there were lots of blogs, though). However, when the whole PayPerPost deal was announced, I assumed that Performancing was on track to do some serious business.
TechCrunch also reminds us that Nick Wilson also left the company on Jan. 11th, so this is now, indeed, a dead company. I hope the network of bloggers can keep going strong, because it seemed as if there was a good community going on there. That does tell you one thing, though: you might have a great community and still no success in business. With all the “social everything” hype out there, that is a good lesson to keep in mind.
