MacWorld Riot?
January 9, 2007 |
The Cult of Mac has an interesting preview of tomorrow’s keynote: it’s going to be a riot.
Here’s my prediction for Macworld: There’s going to be a riot. Expectations for Steve Jobs’ keynote speech Tuesday are so unreasonably high that anything less than an iPod-cum-videophone-miniPC that downloads movies wirelessly from the net and projects them on your living room wall with 7.1 surround sound is going to disappoint.
While the posting is clearly somewhat tongue-in-cheek, the expectations for Steve Jobs are high - very high - especially after we didn’t see anything overwhelming in the last few presentations he gave.
Michael Rose of TUAW adds some flavor to this by reminding us of the 1997 keynote going ugly:
It’s no secret that keynote crowds can turn ugly. If you watch the video above, from the infamous “Big Brother” 1997 keynote, you’ll hear a sound at the 4:50 mark (when SJ introduces El Bill) that can only be
described as “booplause.” I was at that keynote, and it was just as uncomfortable as it sounds on the tape.
Well, at least Apple’s customers have emotions - god knows who those people are who actually sit through a whole Bill Gates keynote without leaving or falling asleep.
