PayPerPost and Performancing Break Up

Posted by Frederic On January - 5 - 2007

PayPerPost has called off its deal with Performancing. Apparently they didn’t like the metrics product going Open Source, though the announcement isn’t very clear on this:

The decision has been made by Nick at Performancing
to make the Metrics platform Open Source and I believe that is a wise
decision. Nick is a great guy and I wish him much luck with the other
aspects of Performancing.com. Nick did what he could to keep the hosted version of Metrics running, but in the end it just wasn’t a fit.

I never liked this deal, but then anything involving PPP except for its closure won’t make me happy.

Mike Arrington calls it an amateurish move:

Performancing should have had a more nailed down acquisition agreement,
so they aren’t entirely blameless. But PayPerPost is becoming an
increasingly ridiculous startup, and a black eye for investor Draper Fisher Jurvetson.

Definitely!
