Google Didn’t Eat My GMail

There is an increasing number of alarmist and sensationalist posts on the net today, saying that Google has accidentally deleted mail in the accounts of various users.

Simply put: it didn’t.

These users were hit with a malicious exploit of a known bug in Firefox 2.0. Maybe Google should keep a backup of your data, but then, it does. So calm down everybody – nothing really happened here that was Google’s fault – just make sure you update your browser when it asks you to do so.

My Google email just disappeared completely. When attempting to use it, it requested my user name and password and then rejected them. I reset my password, it seems that was the problem, and again I was refused. Again, I reset my password and again was refused. I then attempted for a third time to gain entry and my entire email with all data was gone. When going to the web and typing in my email address it is not recognized.
