Took a few days off from blogging (some involuntarily because the electricity went out here in Portland on Thursday night and again on Friday - and again on Saturday), and some voluntarily (made some headway on some important other project = my dissertation).
Too many things happened in the last few days to really keep up, but just a few comments:
- the mini-implosion at TechCrunch continues - and that’s a good thing. I like to see that Mike Arrington is back at the helm and doing his own writing. That’s what people came to TC for at the beginning, that’s what they are there for now. The TechCruch UK disaster I don’t understand, but I think it had more to do with business than anything else.
- Porn still dominates video downloads
- people are starting to write their new-years predictions
- Doc Searls missed his plane, but took some really nice pictures - nothing like the view of the Aurora Borealis I had on my flight from Newark to Portland on Thursday, though — really - what could be better than sitting in first class, with a class of wine, and just being mesmerized by the lights in the sky that look absolutely fantastic
- oh, and can someone explain why Dave Winer changed his blog to display just the posts of the day and not of the preceding days anymore? But hey, at least he is still blogging…
