Maybe Tower Records is shutting down because the only customers left were people like her (insert your own Office Space yoke after reading this):

Among them was Alyce Dicker who was looking to buy a few of the Madonna compact discs that she doesn’t already have.

Over the years, Dicker has popped into the store about twice a month checking out the latest offerings. “I’m usually just out shopping,” the Nanuet resident said, adding that she was sorry to see the store closing.

Jeanne Connors was also browsing the selection and looking to stock up on CDs from artists she has long admired, such as Michael Bolton. Connors likes to buy music that she can play over and over again, so she isn’t a huge consumer of CDs.

Of course records stores are doomed. There is nothing they can provide that iTunes and its clones can’t give to a customer more conveniently. Chances are, those who bemoan that it is gone are those who haven’t shopped there for years anyway but bewail the days in their youth where they got to spend their pocket money there.

TOWER RECORDS CLOSING. Typical Corporate propaganda. Not the inept business management, pricing, and marketing of Tower. Or even the inability to forecast the changes in a music industry. It’s just easier to blame the consumer. You don’t really buy into this, do you?
