Something I Would Like to See From Apple
AS so many others, I have been thinking a bit about the Apple event tomorrow. Obviously, there will be movies for iTunes, whether as rental or to own (I am not sure the non-geek market really cares). We will also see some form of updates iPod and/or iPod nano. More capacity? Widescreen video? Who knows.
I asked my freshman students this week, and out of twenty, eleven had an iPod – six nanos, five 5th Gen ones. Nobody used it for video. I am not sure that a wide-screen version is really something Apple should be obsessing about. But hey, at least it would be a nice feature and maybe create a market.
Anyway – here is my prediction of something we might see tomorrow: FrontRow for Windows - maybe with a little remote and a USB receiver for sale at the Apple Store. If Apple wants to have even something slightly resembling its success with music in the video market, it has to cater to the Windows audience – and FrontRow might just be that. A slick application for managing video and music with a remote.
For all other rumors, I refer you to TechCrunch.
