Roger Cadenhead Slams Dave Winer, but Owns Newsriver.com
August 25, 2006 |
Roger Cadenhead, maybe Dave Winer’s most vocal foe has a damning post on Dave’s idea and implementation of the River of News.
Now that I’m on the outside of this phenomenon, I have to laugh at how he’s able to portray mobile news reading as completely uncharted territory. If mobile developer Russell Beattie was still blogging, I’m sure he’d be asking himself, “Why didn’t I think to put news headlines on a no-graphics page for easy reading on your PDA or phone? Genius, thy name is Dave Winer!”
The kicker, though, is that Mr. Cadenhead here went ahead and bought the domain for newsriver.com. Makes you wonder if he really thinks the idea is not worthwhile. Problem is - the record is now anonymous so I have no evidence for it anymore since I didn’t copy the record the first time I looked it up.

It’s more common than you think, very often the people who make the most vicious personal attacks are people with business reasons, trying to hurt the rep of someone they’re competing with. It’s pretty dirty, and it sure doesn’t do anything good for the customers.
I think it’s a pretty good chance it is his domain, btw. He does his hosting at Servermatrix, and that’s where the server that hosts that domain is.
Have you asked him if it’s his?
C’mon - surely you’re smarter than this - it’s linkbait! Go nofollow on his ass!
