Web 2.0 For Sale - Kind Of
August 16, 2006 |
Web calendaring site Kiko.com put itself up for sale on ebay. Check the ebay listing for their stats. They don’t look so bad, but they are not really overwhelming either. With 40.000 visitors and 77.659 pageviews, I would guess their real userbase was about 10.000 users, maybe a few less.
They were not bought and they couldn’t figure out how to monetize their userbase, so now they are selling themselves for $49.999 and 99 cents. I am sure they picked that price so the buy wouldn’t think he/she was spening $50.000. Shipping is free, though, which is kind of a nice extra, but there have been no bids so far. Auction ends Aug 26th.
I wonder how often we are going to hear that story in the next year or so…
Web 2.0 is not all launch parties and magazine covers and bubbly!
