Make Sure Your WiFi is Secure While Flying…
March 17, 2006 |
I was just browsing MSNBC’s travel section and got suckered into reading PC tips for your PC.
Good advice overall, but I just had to chuckle over this one:
3. Protect against snoopers. If you have WiFi access on your computer, secure it. When I turn on my computer in flight, I often find I can access most of the laptops on board. So, if you don’t want me — or any other nosy person — looking into your files, learn how to secure your connection.
What about just turning off your Wifi? You think your WiFi card is not a wireless transmitter? The kind you can’t turn on during the flight? At any time?
And did she say "most of the laptops on board"? Is it willful neglect, or are people to computer illiterate to know how to turn of their WiFi? Maybe some don’t even know they have WiFi…
