According to CNET.net , the Ricky Gervais show is going behind a pay-per-playcurtain.
Audible plans to announce on Tuesday that it will start selling episodes of Gervais’ show beginning with a new “season two” collection of episodes, which will begin next week. Audible will charge $1.95 per episode or $6.95 for the season, which will include at least four episodes by the creator and star of British television’s “The Office.” Audible’s exclusive deal also runs for a “season three,” which will start in the fall.
Why? With 3.000.000 listeners they can’t get an advertising deal going? Audible might have been a great company a year or two back, but now all the good content is available for free anyway - so nobody is going to bother to subscribe to this. Want comedy - iTunes lists a thousand options? If I were Karl Pilkington, I would start my own podcast because his phenomenal run as an internet star is coming to an end quickly.

And the blogosphere agress: Geek News Central, Alex Barnett, just Cameron Reilly thinks they will make a lot of money…
