Google adds Widgets
December 14, 2005 |
Google today announced that it has added a widget function to its personalized homepage.
At this point, there is a map widget, a time widget, an ‘Eyes’ widget that follows your mouse, and a weather map based on google maps. One cool feature is that the source code is linked right on the main page. Here, for example, is the code for the time widget.
Of course, I don’t have to point out that google is late to the party. but if they mange to get a larger group of coders behind their widget structure, then they might be the last to laugh. Time will tell, but of course Google’s history lately doesn’t point in this direction.
