Walmart to Offer $400 Laptop on Black Friday
November 1, 2005 |
Update 11/22: There seems to be some confusion about the price of the laptop these days. I am getting reports of $488 from some, while the Walmart site has a circular announcing it for $378. The two circulars can be found here. The large circular on the right shows $488 on page three, and the little one in the middle has the $378 price clearly visible here.
Kudos to Kristina for finding this.
Update 11/21:
Just received the following update from a reader . Thank you Jeff!

Just received the WALMART sale paper for November 25th. HP Pavillion ze2308wm computer listed at $488.00. Sempron mobile 2800+ 1.6Ghz

I will try to verify this information. If this is true, then it is very disappointing news indeed.

The net is buzzing today with the news that Walmart is supposedly going to sell a $400 HP laptop and a $400 and $600 desktop.
The laptop in the ad comes with a 2800+ Sempron processor from Advanced Micro Devices, 256MB of memory, a 40GB hard drive, a CD-RW/DVD drive and a 15-inch screen. The desktop, meanwhile, comes with a 3000+ Sempron, 512MB of memory, a 40GB drive and a 15-inch LCD.
Needs some more memory and I could swap out the hard drive, but not bad overall. Maybe it will make Dell release some nice coupons soon… 50% off anybody?
