No Porn for You, Video IPod.
October 26, 2005 |
Adam Curry has been talking about how porn is going to make the video iPod sell. Wired, though, has a very nice essay on why this is not going to happen in a rush.
Porn on the go presents land mines for viewers as well as producers. Although there is no federal law prohibiting public viewing of adult content, some state and local governments have banned displays of pornographic films in automobiles.
Pornographers are wary of people watching their product on the street and the legal implications that might possibly have for their product. Porn producers have always been nervous about legal issues, so I am not surprised this would come up. Who would watch porn on the subway, though?
A few years back, I read a good essay on why people oppose porn so much. It had to do with masturbation. With porn comes masturbation and in general, that has been looked down upon much more than porn itself. So, when are we going to see masses of people jerking off at the bus stop? That’s the real (and far messier) question at the bottom of this.
